The New Christmas Carol

I'm sorry I forgot to let y'all know when it was going to be on, but the new version of A Christmas Carol that I had told you about was in fact on NBC this past Sunday.
It was pretty good!
It was actually the film version of the stage production that had played at Madison Square Garden for 10 years (ending it's run last year) with music by one of my personaly favorites Alan Menken.
Mr. Menken is the genius behind such greats as Little Shop of Horrors and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
This was an interesting version--strayed a bit story-wise from the book, but the music was wonderful and you could really see where the "show-stopper" numbers were that must've wowed 'em when it was done live!
Kelsey Grammer did a very nice job as Scrooge. It was nice to see him in a rather different role than we're used to seeing him play. The actor who played Scrooge as a young man to me, really did resemble Mr. Grammer when he was younger so I give lots of credit to the casting director! (Oh, he was cute and could really sing too!) lol
I really enjoyed Jason Alexander and Jesse L. Martin as well. These two hail from Broadway and really brought their stage training to life here.
More Broadway vets lent their presence as well such as Jane Krakowski as the Ghost of Christmas Past and the great Geraldine Chaplin as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.
All in all, this was a very nice version. One that I'm sure will be shown annually and will become as much of a holiday tradition as a Christmas Carol itself.
